Ma Quinter is at it again—using the double barrels of her shotgun to force some unsuspecting female to marry one of her boys. This time it's Skeeter and the young, pregnant girl he hauled home.
Escaping from her abuser, Lila Scott, crawls through a tunnel, and ends up in 1882. Even though her rescuer is the most wonderful man she's ever met, she must hold true to her mission of returning to the future where she can have her baby with modern medical care.
With the help of some rotgut whiskey and a few peyote buttons, Steven Quinter, aka Skeeter, participated in Buffalo Killer's ghost dance. When he wakes up there’s an adorable redhead staring down at him. Not knowing what else to do, he takes the girl home to his mother, but when Ma Quinter realizes the young girl is pregnant, another shotgun wedding takes place.

Lila is trying to get away from the man that raped her and is now trying to kill her, when she stumbles upon some sort of portal that sends her back into the past, and Skeeter in his peyote induced out-of-body experience helps Lila to crossover to his time. After another shotgun wedding at Ma’s insistence, Skeeter is wed to pregnant Lila, and he tries to focus on the time they have together before Lila returns to the future. Just as Kid frustrated me in the first book with his irrational, convoluted excuses, Lila frustrated me for the same reason. Skeeter was so sweet and unbelievably understanding—he was a dream man. I loved the correlation between his relationship with Lila and the bird he had when he was young. I wasn’t too excited about the time travel theme in the beginning, but the ending was really well done. Hog’s story is next in Boot Hill Bride!Product details

A man whose body would "stir Mother Teresa" was what Lila Stone saw when she came out of a tunnel that the ghost had directed her to as she fled from the man chasing her. Lila, a 21st century, only child, who is used to getting what she wants when she wants it, is rather much a "fish-out-of-water" in 19th century Kansas where Indians still roam about.
Even though the sexy, charismatic man gives her comfort and makes her feel safe, Lila knows she has to find a way back to her own time before time to have her baby.
Skeeter Quinter wakes up from a `whiskey and peyote trip" given him by his friend Buffalo Killer and sees a disheveled, scantily clad woman that sets every part of him humming. He is drawn to her not just by compassion but also by his own need deep inside that reaches out to her.
He helps this unusual woman and remembers helping a little bird with a broken wing then having to let it fly away. He knows this will probably happen again, but he never waivers in his commitment to her. Skeeter Quinter is a love, a hero to dream about.
Skeeter Quinter's family supports each other emotionally, physically, and spiritually without question. Tough big brother Kid tells Skeeter that worry gets you nowhere, but faith takes you far when Skeeter confides in him about his struggle to understand Lila.
Lauri Robinson creates a story full of humor, enchanting imagery, and amazing description. She infuses historical facts into the story that grounds the reader in the time period then propels one along into a whirlwind of events, suspense, and all encompassing love.
This love story takes the breath away at times as Skeeter tries to keep the light in Lila's eyes shining when her worries threaten to snuff it out. The joy of life and love shines through, humor abounds, and that happy-ever-after plus just a little more makes Badland Bride a KEEPER.
loving this series and really enjoy the brotherly love and their mum is a hoot.not the best in the series but well worth the read.
A wonderful read. I couldn't put down. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through the book. I would recommend anyone who would like such a very interesting story of a beautiful love story should read.
If you are looking for a humorous romance this is it. It's light with a bit of a sci-fi twist to it. Love the interfering Mom and the incredible innocence displayed throughout the story. If you want something light and fun to pass the time, this story is for you.
This was my first book in this series and it was wonderful. The characters l fell in love with, especially Skeeters friend Buffalo Killer ( an Indian) could not have been better. The story was fast paced, serious, and funny. If you like western historical romance and even if you've never read one, this is well worth reading. Well l am now going to read the next book, can't wait to see what the Quinters are up to.
